"I—can’t. I just can’t!!"
"I thought you loved me??"
You know I do, but..”
(cheesy dialogue aside)
Imagine a manipulative Surana. The elven Wardens have it the hardest, at least the way I see it, and I’ll post more on that later. Among learning of Cullen’s infatuation with her (?) Surana takes this golden opportunity to ask for favors, secrets to blackmail, and most importantly a way out.
Cullen is naive and malleable this early in the game, still insisting to himself and others that the Templars are too rough on the Circle. He’s still open to ideas; the ideas she instills in him are the main ones he’s focused on now.
As Morrigan says, “Men will believe two things about a woman; that she is weak and that she finds him attractive.” Surana has this sort of mindset, having a disdain of sorts for humans—males in specific. Growing up in a diseased alienage with her only golden ticket being a tower full of hated people oppressed by religion tends to leave that on some people. Templars are like the police in the ghetto, let me tell you.
I wouldn’t want people to think this is a terrible “spin” on things and I doubt this is new. But would a mage using a Templar’s feelings for her freedom be so wrong??
Maybe I’ll write this out in a fic some day I’m not too sure. I’d like to discuss this if possible peeps in the fandom….
